always happens in threes

I don’t know what “it” is, and I don’t know who “they” are, but they always said, “Good things happen in threes.” Other folks say, “Bad things happen in threes.” Why does “three” seems to be a magical number in these superstitions? Even when storytellers relate a tale, things happen in “threes.” Does that hold true for you?

I am waiting for number three. First my van...we all pretty much know what happened there. Second, my illness. At first, I thought it might just go away on its own...you know, run its course and then be over with. No such luck. Finally went to the DR and it turns out to be bronchitis and a touch of pneumonia. So what is number three going to be? If superstitions hold true, it won't be something favorable. What else can go wrong? And if it is going to happen, can't it just happen and be over with?

C'mon, already. I have had about enough.
