I walked a half marathon yesterday. yup, you read correctly. a half marathon. 13.1 miles. now, mind you, I recently posted about the three day, sixty mile walk. that was two years ago and you did not have a timing chip on your shoe. this one was for time. was I doing it for time? absolutely not! however, the entire feeling I got was different. in 2006, we were all there for a cause, to make a statement. to raise awareness. yesterday, not so much. people were hurried and "time" conscious. clothes were tossed on the path or to the side when they became too warm to wear anymore. the drink stations reminded me of the commercials that meijer has when they have the one day sale....shoppers push their carts past a table with cups of water....they take their drink and toss the cup on the ground. yesterday was all new to me. so, you ask, did I make it? I did! I packed my little camera in my bag and took a few photos....the first is toward the end and this is what I saw in front of me..
the next shot was what was behind me...I just turned the camera around and pressed the shutter button and hoped for the best...
it turned out okay so I thought I might try it again.

when I looked at the photo, this is what I got...
it made me laugh out loud when my feet were really starting to hurt...:)

I then took another shot of what was before me...
and finally, the finish line was in sight!
I did it! my feet and body ache but would I do it again? depended on what it was for and who I might be walking with....

Way to go! I’ve done a couple of those walks before and for me the best part has always been the collapse on a bench at the end!
You did absolutly awsome. I am so proud of you. You can add that to the list of things you have accomplished. Thanks for your encouragment and support throughout the walk, you helped me in ways you didnt even know
that's great! you must feel so accomplished! i'm proud of your work!
WOW... didn't know you were doing this. I'm about 95% sure that you are one of two people I know who were in this event. Our district math facilitator was going to run a half-marathon this past weekend in Ohio. What are the odds it was somewhere else? (Supposedly, she finished 5th--BUT, she participates in triathalons and half iron man races...so she really can't be compared to you.) Who did you do this with?? Did your dh and kids go and support you??? I need more details!
