my son's team had a scrimmage tonight. the opening game is still weeks away. they are wearing blue practice jerseys and they did alright.what did you do tonight?

You know I did!!!
We had our politically incorrect student orientation/meet the teacher night. Since our school mascot is the Redskins, our teaching teams are named after indian tribe--and called tribes--we call our orientation Pow Wow. We had a bazillion parents/students roaming the halls looking for their classrooms and meeting their teachers. Our district is in a budget crunch so the air conditioning wasn't working up to its capabilities for a couple of reasons--they didn't turn it back on after 4:00, one of the coolers has broken and they don't have the money to fix it (the coaches offices/dressing rooms have NO air at all! Won't that smell nice after a couple of days of football practice!) and the doors kept opening to accomodate all of the people...not to mention the biggest enemy known to mankind--the mosquito! (We even have a festival named after it.) I was nice seeing familiar faces of parents whose older children I've taught. Have a good Friday!
