J and our cat, Bosco, were very busy reading what was on this page in the Guinness World Record Book. I couldn't have posed this better if I tried!

the other news in our area is a local business exploded on friday. we were leaving the northern end of town and when we turned on the major road for us to come home, we saw the smoke. we weren't sure of where it was so we kept on driving. next thing, the fire truck was racing by. turns out, they were the back up to the fire trucks that were already on the scene. we were diverted around the area. when we went to church saturday evening, we had to drive past the business, or what is left of it, and the kids wanted me to take photos for K. here are two....luckily, no one was killed. five people were hurt but thankfully, the building was evacuated prior to it exploding. just proves that every day could be your last. J even had the thought of this: what if were driving past when the building exploded...I have not heard of any passersby being injured but it is a thought that has played in my brain since then.

the weekend, ah. plans for both kids to have friends over on sunday (martin luther king holiday). J's friend called sort of at the last minute and cancelled, with no real reason. when J pressed him, he said he was with " " (another kid from school). J, of course, was very sad. after collecting himself, he called another friend and he was able to come over. however, this friend had an allergic reaction to our three cats and his asthma started to kick in. I ended up taking this friend home around 10:30 pm. he had a breathing treatment and is okay but J was disappointed. too bad the first friend he invited over cancelled to spend time with someone else. J had been looking forward to this all week.

H's little friend stayed and they were, well, girls. they had fun and spent time this morning playing before I took her home.

what did you do this weekend?
